Bubble Machines for Weddings and Events — What Works and What Doesn't

Wedding planners love bubble machines. Photographers love them even more — bubbles in the background make every shot look magical. But there’s a big difference between the bubble machine that makes your event look like a fairy tale and the one that leaves soapy puddles on the dance floor.

Here’s what we’ve learned from supplying bubble machines to event companies.

Output matters more than you think

A cheap bubble machine spits out a weak stream of tiny bubbles that pop before they reach shoulder height. For photos, that’s useless. For ambiance, it’s disappointing.

What you want is a machine that fills the space. Our desktop bubble machines output 200-500 bubbles per minute — enough to create a noticeable bubble presence in a 50-square-meter area within 30 seconds.

The key spec to look for isn’t “bubbles per minute” (every manufacturer inflates this). Instead, check the fan speed and the number of bubble wands inside the machine. More wands = more bubbles simultaneously.

Indoor vs outdoor — totally different game

Indoor events: Bubble machines work great indoors because there’s no wind to blow bubbles away. The bubbles rise, float around, and settle naturally. One machine covers about 50 square meters. For a typical wedding reception hall, 2-3 machines in corners work perfectly.

Outdoor events: Wind is the enemy. If there’s any breeze at all, bubbles will blow in one direction — usually right into someone’s face. The fix: position machines upwind of the crowd, or use them only when the air is still. Some event planners bring 4-5 machines outdoors and only run the ones that are blowing the right direction.

Pro tip: our concentrated bubble solution produces heavier bubbles that resist wind better than diluted solutions.

Noise and aesthetics

Nobody wants to hear a loud motor during the vows. Our bubble machine fans are designed to run quietly — about the volume of a desk fan on low. If you’re placing machines near the ceremony area, test the noise level during setup.

Visually, black or white machines blend into event decor better than bright colors. We offer neutral-colored models specifically for event companies.

What most people forget

Bubble solution residue. On a wooden dance floor or polished tile, spilled bubble solution is slippery. Put a mat or towel under each machine. On grass or carpet it’s not an issue — the solution is water-based and dries without staining.

Also: bubbles pop. That’s the point. But if you’re doing a bubble release during a specific moment (first dance, cake cutting), run the machines for 20 seconds before the moment so the air is already full when the photographer starts shooting.
